Piercing retainers are clear bioplastic retainers ment to be used when jewellery cant be worn (like at work or in school) and sit in the piercing to retain the piercing while the jewellery is out.
What is the right way to clean retainers?
I clean my retainer with my toothbrush and Listerine. There are tablets you can buy that you put in water and they dissolve and clean the retainers. Just whatever you do, DO NOT use any kind of heat to clean them! Using heat can misshapen your retainers!
How long before your lip piercing grows up I've had mine done now for four months and I have to take it out for work I just want to make sure that it's okay until I get the retainers?
you cant leave it out too long if your going to just try and stick it in every once in a while too make shure its still open but the retainers work greaT

I wouldn't think that you would have to take out your retainer for gym but I'm not so sure because I'm just getting my braces on in two weeks....I think that's a question that you may have to confront your ortho with!

Yes, some movement is completely normal. Your teeth are adjusting to their new positioning without the aid of the braces. The clear plastic retainers shouldn't be "temporary", they are for use during the day while you are moving your jaw and mouth a lot. The metal and plastic retainers are harder to wear but they're designed to keep your teeth where they are - not move them around. If you are worried however you should speak to your orthodontist, not the Internet.
