How do you eliminate wire grass?
it is very difficult. User Round Up. Wait for the grass to die and then water it. Wait a few weeks and then use Round Up again to kill anything that came up. Then cut it short with a lawnmower and bag the clippings. Cut it in multiple directions - horizontal, diagonal etc. Water some more. Rent a de-thatcher and de-thatch the lawn. Water it some more and kill anything that comes up with Round up. Next take a propane torch like the ones used for ice melting and weed burning. Burn the ground with the propane torch. Be careful not to melt any of your irrigation system in the process. Keep watering the lawn. If anything green comes up, kill it with Round Up. Next, aerate the lawn with an aerator and then apply fertilizer and then grass seed (such as tall fescue). Maintain the grass and the following late spring, apply a wire grass control such as Turfelon Ester for four months May through August. Do the for the next two years while keeping a close eye on any wiregrass that pops up. Or you can just put the house on the market and move. In some cases this may be the best alternative.
