I don't understand: copper is NOT colorless. It has a redish brown, shiny metal color. It will change color after reaction with sulfuric acid, giving the blue copper sulfate color, which is easily dissolved in rain water and washed of.

What ion dissolved in sulphuric acid to give a colourless gas and blue solution?

Copper ions dissolved in sulfuric acid react to give a colorless gas (sulfur dioxide) and a blue solution (copper sulfate).

What is the word equation of copper oxide reacting with sulfuric acid to make copper sulphate?

Copper oxide+ Sulphuric acid ----> copper sulphate +water

What equation is sulphuric acid mixed with copper oxide?

Cu + 2H2SO4 -> CuSO4 + 2H2O + SO2 Copper (Cu) on reacting with two moles of sulphuric acid (H2SO4) yields copper sulphate (CuSO4) and 2 moles of water (2H2O) and sulphur dioxide (SO2).

What salt is formed when copper reacts with sulphuric acid?

When copper reacts with sulphuric acid, copper sulfate is formed. This reaction involves the displacement of hydrogen in sulphuric acid by copper, resulting in the formation of copper sulfate and hydrogen gas.

Why does copper not liberate hydrogen on reacting with dilute sulphuric acid?

it is because hydrogen gas usually liberates when an acid reacts with metal

What happens when copper oxide reacts with dilute sulphuric acid?

Copper Oxide reacts with Sulphuric acid to form Copper Sulphate and Water.

What is mixed with copper oxide to make copper sulphate?

Sulphuric acid is mixed with copper oxide to make copper sulphate through a chemical reaction.

What occurs when copper reacts with dilute sulphuric acid?

When copper reacts with dilute sulphuric acid, copper sulfate and hydrogen gas are produced. The copper sulfate formed will be a blue solution. This reaction is a redox reaction, where copper is oxidized and hydrogen is reduced.

What chemical should be added to copper carbonate to make copper sulphate?

Sulphuric acid, because "sulphuric" is what gives copper sulphate it's name

Why does copper not evolve hydrogen on reacting with dilute sulphuric acid?

Copper does not evolve hydrogen gas when reacting with dilute sulfuric acid because copper is below hydrogen in the reactivity series. This means that copper is not reactive enough to displace hydrogen from sulfuric acid to form hydrogen gas. Instead, copper reacts with sulfuric acid to form copper(II) sulfate and water.

Method for manufacturing copper sulphate?

There are various method for manufacturing copper sulphate commercially. it can be manufactured by the action of sulphuric acid on copper in the presence of air/O2. reacting copper with dilute sulphuric acid in the presence of strong oxidising agents like HNO3. By converting copper into copper oxide and dissolution of oxide into dilute sulphuric acid. once we get liquid copper sulphate solution from reaction then the normal operations are filtration , concentration, crystallisation, separation & drying of crystals

What salt is made by sulphuric acid?

There are many salts made from sulphuric acid. A chemical salt consists of any given metal, and the acid anion. In the case of Sulphuric Acid, the acid anion is the sulphate anion ' SO4^(2-) ' This can combine with many different metals, e.g. sodium, calcium , copper, to form the salts, respectively, sodium sulphate (Na2SO4), calcium sulphate(CaSO4), copper sulphate(CuSO4). There are many other combinations.
