Displacement is a vector quantity while distance is a scalar quantity.

so in case of displacement, it depends on final position.

For example:- If a man walks on a circle, then if he completes one round then his displacement will be zero because the man is at same position as start position.

But, his distance travelled will not be zero; it is equal to circumference of the circle.

Are distance and displacement the same?

distance travel led by a particle in a given interval of time is known as displacement. displacement=distance traveled by time taken.Displacement may be zero. it is path length which a particle travels.distance should not be zero.

What does it mean about your displacement is equal to the distance you traveled?

displacement is equal to the distance you traveled when the object is moving at shortest path

When does distance traveled equal the magnitude of displacement vector?

Distance traveled is equal to the magnitude of the displacement vector when the motion is in a straight line.

What is the relationship between displacement and direction?

Displacement is just distance traveled and a direction. For example 40m east is a displacement distance

Which word most likely means a measure of distance traveled?

Displacement means a measure of distance traveled.

Is the magnitude of displacement greater than or equal to the magnitude of the distance traveled?

Displacement can be equal to distance traveled or less, depending on the shape of the route, but it can never be greater than the distance traveled.

Can the magnitude of a displacement be greter than the distance traveled?

No.

Under what condition the distance and displacement are equal?

The magnitude of displacement is equal to distance traveled when motion is in a straight line.

Suppose that an object travels from one point in space to another Make a comparison between the displacement and the distance traveled?

the displacement is either less or equal to the distance traveled

What measures distance traveled in a given time interval?

Speed

Does displacement always equal distance traveled?

No. Displacement is how far an object is from its original position. This means that if an object traveled in a circle and returned to its original point, it will have a displacement of 0 while the distance will be whatever the circumference of the circle was. Hope that helps.

What conditions the distance and displacement between two points will be equal?

Answer: The magnitude of displacement is equal to distance traveled when motion is in a straight line
