Continuously varying idle speed with a high trend on colder days points to a faulty fast idle valve. After considerable time coolant leaks past the sensor effecting the movement of the control valve. It has a small coolant pipe attached to it which will require removal along with all the inlet ducting to facilitate an easier access.
