The 1996 Jeep computer doesn't have a changable "chip". The computer can be updated by a dealer, or by some after masket scanners.

If you no longer have the remote key you will need a transponder (chip) key. You can get one from the dealer, or there are some other places that sell them. You will have to use that key in the Drivers door to unlock the door and this will disarm the alarm.
