Was Walt Disney immediately successful?

Not at all. Walt began his cartooning career after serving as an ambulance driver just after World War 1, but could not get hired by any newspaper. His first company doing artistic work was in association with Ubbe Iwerks, but that company did not suceed. Walt's first attempt to create movie animations -- a company called "Laugh O Grams -- got a lot of business, but expenses were so high that the company went bankrupt. His second company, Alice Comedies, had trouble finding a distributor in Kansas City, and Walt and Roy Disney went to Hollywood. It took eight years of struggle before Walt had his first major animation success -- Oswald the Rabbit. Within a year he found out he did not have the rights to that character, and thus could no longer create cartoons under that name -- forcing him to start pretty much from scratch. He and Iwerks decided to create a mouse cartoon character -- and the rest is history.

Did Walt Disney go to jail?

No. Some people say he served in the military prison in Portsmouth Harbor (also known as "The Castle") but it's just a urban legend. Perhaps it was the regal name of "The Castle" or a fanciful notion, but somewhere along the way, the prison became associated with Walt Disney. The legend says that he spent some time at the prison, before being dishonourably discharged from the navy. The prison itself, with it's castle like appearance is supposed to have inspired his castle at Disneyland. Disney did have a career in the military as an ambulance driver during the First World War. That much is true. The rest is a legend, disproved by the Disney Company and the Shipyard as much as possible. Disney's castle at Disneyland seems to be drawn from a castle in Bavaria.

How many people were at Walt Disney's funeral?

While there are no official records as to the exact number of people attending Walt Disney's funeral, it is well known that Walt requested a private family service, only attended by his wife and close family members. The arrangements were made quietly at Forest Lawn Glendale in California and Walt was cremated and laid to rest in the private family garden at the cemetery after a short ceremony. This man was genuinely modest in life and wanted no fanfare after his death. This fact fueled rumors that he was cryogenically frozen and placed beneath the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland resort. I hope this gives you the information you are looking for.

Is Walt Disney World boring?

You should be able to find something to pique your interest. The Walt Disney World theme parks have character meet and greets, live shows, and thrill rides. If you're bothered by the crowds or long wait times, there is plenty to do on the rest of the property. You can find shopping at Downtown Disney, as well as nightly entertainment. There are three full spas, or enjoy some downtime by the pool. For outdoorsy types, boat rentals (and fishing excursions) are available from several hotels, and there are miles of hiking trails.

What did Walt Disney hate?

No, Walt did not hate Jews at all. This is a rumor that sprouted from the time that many animators went on strike and made a significant amount of rumors up about Walt to try and secure their new union's deal. Also, during World War 2, the Disney Studios was literally forced by the U.S. military to produce short propaganda films. One of these was called "Da Fuhrer's Face" which showed Donald Duck working as a Nazi. However, it was portrayed as horrible and that the Nazi's were the "bad guys" in this particular film. So no. Walt did not hate Jews. In fact, he trusted and opened up to the Sherman Brothers. They were the resident songwriters at the Studio. They were 2nd generation Russian-Jewish immigrants and Robert Sherman even practiced Judaism while working with Walt at the Studio. Many a time Walt would show his emotions to the Shermans, something he never did to his other employees. Again, Walt had nothing against Jews. It's just a rumor that should be put to rest, as it has no validity whatsoever.
