Not likely unless someone decides to do a movie that faithfully tells the full story told in the books. Such a movie would be so long (>30 hours by my estimates) that it could only be released as a series (perhaps for TV instead of the theater).

Its best to read the books (and if you want the back history also the Silmarillion).
