What was downtown Disney originally called?
It has been called Walt Disney World since it opened in 1971. During the design phase, it was referred to as Disney World and The Florida Project. It is located in Central Florida, in the incorporated cities of Lake Buena Vista and Bay Lake, in southwestern Orange County, and a portion of unincorporated northwest Osceola County.
