There are No figures for future cars.... anyone that knew that could make a fortune. The Real problem isn't the engines...it's that Manufacturers are making cars ALOT heavier. A 1970's VW Diesel Rabbit gets better MPG than a Civic Hybrid... mostly because it weighs 400+ lbs. lighter and is a diesel..not gas. A 1970's Accord is more than 400 lbs. lighter than a 2019 model.
