No, if you are careful and follow some basic procedures.

  1. Backup your Hard Drive with an imaging software or backup important files just in case.
  2. Change your RAID system to a standard IDE, RAID1 (non-encrypted) or AHCI. (Caution: possible data loss if your not careful. Most basic users can skip this step because you are probably in AHCI or IDE mode already with one HD.
  3. Install the new motherboard storage controller drivers before swapping to MOBO.
  4. Install the new motherboard with all the same drives and setup.
  5. Run the BIOS and configure your storage controller to the appropriate type. (If you had a raid mirror setup and you switched physical RAID controllers your RAID might not work and you might have to run the windows recover CD and do a FixBoot or BootRec ON ONE DRIVE to get it to boot in AHCI or IDE mode)
  6. Make sure the right drive is the boot drive.
  7. Boot up in windows and install the appropriate remaining drivers and reactivate windows.

If the old motherboard is using the same chipset as the new motherboard you should be able to just setup the same storage controller in the BIOS and boot right up with the new Motherboard.

Hope that helps.
