1.) It probably depends on several things, mostly the insurance carrier and the state you live in. When my older son got his permit (in 2000, in NJ), our rates with State Farm did go up. When my younger son got his permit (in 2004, also in NJ) our rates with AIG did NOT go up. == == 2.) It stands to reason that an additional potential driver in the family (YOU) will result in an increase in the annual rate charged. As you are a brand new driver, with no experience at all , they will rate you as a high risk driver, at least for the first few years of your driving record. 3.) One influencing factor is the number of vehicles registered to the household. If there are enough vehicles that the new driver could be the primary driver of one of them, the rates are more likely to go up. However if there are only enough vehicles for the more experienced drivers, so that the new driver can only be an occasional driver of one of the vehicles, the risk is less, and therefore the rates are less likely to change.

If you get a learners permit will your parents insurance go up?

Yes, the premium will increase as you must be included as a driver in their policy. I disagree. It depends on the insurance company. Mine told me my rates will not go up when my son gets his permit, but they do want to be notified. Rates will go up when he becomes licensed.

If your parents have Metlife will their insurance go up if you get your learner's permit?

You will have to check with the insurance company. Because a person with a permit has to have a licensed driver in the car, some insurance companies will not charge anything. Others may, it depends on the company.

If a 17-year-old has his own insurance in North Carolina will his parents' insurance premiums go up?

That depends on weather or not your 17 year old has their insurance on the parents policy. It will go up if the child is on the parents policy, but if the child has their own policy, it won't. But it will be cheaper if the child is added on to the parents policy. My husband is a North Carolina State Trooper so I know alot about insurance. Also, call around and go online for the cheapest rates.

Why does the insurance company get paid back the money Isn't that why we pay our premiums?

You pay premiums because insurance companies are a business and they are there to make a profit. Also, the premiums you pay go into a pool of money so the insurance company can pay out claims when necessary.

Who is entitled to insurance proceeds between tenant and landlord?

That depends on the type of insurance policy it is. If it's the landlord's policy on his building, with him paying the premiums, then the insurance benefits go to him. For the insurance money to go to you, then you would have had to have taken out renters insurance, with you paying the premiums, insuring the contents (your personal belongings).

Does insurance go up when you get your license if you were in an accident with a permit?

What are the DUI insurance rates in California?

While it is not guaranteed that your premiums will go up, there is a very good chance that it will happen. On the positive side, California law prevents your premiums from going up midterm, in fact your premiums can only go up when your insurance is up for renewal or you are creating a new policy.
