inflammation in general might cause high WBC count which is always caused by infection, also some types of leukemia (bone morrow cancer) might do that as well but the striking feature here is that the cells are (most of the times) abnormal.
my wbc is8.3 (4.4-11.3) and my lymphocytes-abs are 3.62 (0.6-3.4) is this bad
A high and or elevated WBC in the blood is usually always an indication of a virus and/or signs of inflammation and/or infection. It can honestly mean so many things. Depending on how the testing to determine elevated WBC is done (spinal tap or via routine blood draw),would also impact the accuracy of such a test. If the WBC came back out of the "higher than normal" range. additional testing would then be done. Usually the Dr. who ordered the test might perscribe antibiotics to treat any type of virus/infection causing the increase of WBC. the levels will usually go back down and no future problems arise. I have SLE-an auto-immune disease...my WBC is always on the higher side and is no reason for any alarm. If my WBC gets extremely high, other tests are done such as ANA, RA, DNA to locate the cause of WBC to be higher and treatment can then be prescribed.
Symptoms and signs are more useful in combination, however, a high WBC with a high Neutrophil count helps to indicate Appendicitis.
Most likely there is an infection. My daughter is 5 and her wbc is 16000 and she has fever. She just went to the doctor. She has the flu-throwing up and VERY tired. The doctor is sending her for an ultra sound to rule out appendicitis and another wo9rd i can't spell. Hope this helps you.
Mildly low WBC counts are usually the result of low-grade viral infections. Even the common cold (rhinovirus) can precipitate mildly low WBC counts. (Also, on the differential, the lymphocyte portion of the WBC count is often somewhat elevated.)
ref.range of wbcs a 5000 to 10000/cumm. an elevated wbcs count is called leucocytosis. the leucocytosis indicate infection. In leukemia white cell count may be increased upto 2 lacs./cumm
It could be an infection but without knowing what WBCs are elevated and which liver tests are showing that result, you really need to ask the doctor who asked for the tests.
Elevated white blood cell counts can be from a variety of causes such as infections or physical stresses. Usually it will just go down on its own and is a normal reaction. If it stays elevated over time it should be investigated.
While rare or uncommon, yes, there have been cases of chronic or recurrent appendicitis that didn't require surgery. However, due to the fact that those two types of appendicitis are uncommon and appendicitis can be fatal if left unchecked, I'd definitely advice one who has any of the symptoms associated with appendicitis or is concerned they may have appendicitis, to see their health care provider as soon as possible.
Doctors usually treat an elevated WBC with antibiotic's. It is important for your doctor to find out why your WBC is higher than normal. Only your doctor can tll you why your count is higher than normal through blood tests. Your body generates more WBC's to fight infection, but it is very important to treat the underlying cause of the increased blood count.
You can have appendicitis and no pain or you could have an appendicitis with a lot of pain. When i had appendicitis about a month ago i have some pain but it was not that bad that i couldn't walk or anything like that but the surgeon that did my operation said that some people have appendicitis and can not feel any pain but he also said that some people have really bad pain and have nothing wrong with them.
