you dont, you upgrade to windows 7, or re-instal xp...
Windows 7 is free, you can just download it, without providing any information about your current system. However, you have to register if you want to get a legal copy.---Windows 7 is not free. It is a copyrighted program released by Microsoft. A promotional or unlicensed copy of Microsoft Windows 7 must be registered within one month or the software disables itself.
The only way to get a legal free copy of Windows 7 Upgrade for consumers was by buying Vista right before Windows 7 launched. Ship sailed!
The short answer is - no. Windows 7 software is protected by copyright. If you make a copy (even of the disk that came with your own computer) you're breaking the law. Each copy of Windows 7 software is licenced for ONE machine only. The first time you use Windows 7 - it registers with their server, activating the licence key for that copy. If you subsequently install it on a second machine - the Windows server instantly knows the licence key for that copy has ALREADY been activated.
There is no need to have a copy of Windows XP, as Windows XP Mode (which is a feature part of Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate) comes with a fully licensed version of Windows XP with Service Pack 3. A step-by-step instructions on how to download and install Windows XP Mode for Windows 7 can be found at related links section of this question.
The game is already included in most editions of Windows Vista; there is no need to copy it.
Each legal copy of Windows 7 comes with its own unique serial number. The serial number matches the relevant entries in the computer's registry. If you get a copy of Windows 7 (from a friend for example) and install it on your own computer, it will display a message similar to 'This copy of Windows is not genuine. Go on-line to resolve this issue'. If you continue to use the copy - not only will you continually get reminder messages about 'going authentic' - but you are also breaking the law !
If you have access to a XP computer, you can copy C:\ESRI and paste it in a folder on Windows 7 with the same name. Copy the files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\ESRI from you XP computer to the folder C:Program Files (x64)\Common Files\ESRI on your Windows 7 machine. After you have to copy the ESRI font and install it on Windows 7. If this doesn't work, there is a second option which can be read at gislounge.
Either buy a copy of windows 7 ultimite from a local computer store or in your computer go into windows anytime upgrade and do it form there.
You can't ! Each unique copy of Windows 7 is pre-installed on computers. The licence key for the legitimate copy supplied with the computer is 'woven' into the Windows registry. If you try to install another copy with a different licence key, your computer will claim it is an illegal copy - and display various messages warnign you of that fact. You can buy a legitimate copy from Microsoft - but it will (a) need to be installed from scratch, (b) register itself with the Windows server and (c) disable the licence key that came with your original copy.
