We are united with the people who are also taking communion, in the respect that together we are remembering the Lord's death.

Some religions will try and tell you otherwise but The Bible says communion is a time of remembrance.

1Corinthians 11:25, 26 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.

Can you receive Holy Communion if you are married to a divorced Catholic?

Roman Catholic AnswerWhether or not you can receive Holy Communion depends on a number of things, you would need to make an appointment with a priest to talk this over. The person to whom you are married will also have to talk to a priest and arrange to have their marriage submitted to the tribunal to see if it can be annulled. In the meantime, you both need to be living as brother and sister, and go to Confession, then you may receive Holy Communion.

Do you have to have communion at your wedding mass?

In the Mass there is an exchange of gifts.we offer to God gifts of bread and wine at the Offertory, and Christ, into whom these gifts have been changed at the Consecration. God accepts our gifts and offers us a gift in return, Christ in Holy Communion. therefore, we should receive Communion every time we offer Mass. not to do so is to refuse God's gift after he has accepted ours.

Why is the First Eucharist so important for children?

.Catholic AnswerThe First Holy Communion is a huge day in any person's life. Many people remember their First Holy Communion long into their old age, a very famous Catholic, or perhaps "infamous" was Napolean who in his older years mentioned that, of his entire life, the high point was the day of his First Holy Communion. This is the day on which a child receives Our Blessed Lord, Body and Soul, Humanity and Divinity, into themselves. Our Blessed Lord is finally joined with one whom He loves above all others - a child. .from The Catechism of the Catholic Church, second edition, English translation 19941244 First Holy Communion. Having become a child of God clothed with the wedding garment, the neophyte is admitted "to the marriage supper of the Lamb" (Rev 19:9) and receives the food of the new life, the body and blood of Christ. The Eastern Churches maintain a lively awareness of the unity of Christian initiation by giving Holy Communion to all the newly baptized and confirmed, even little children, recalling the Lord's words: "Let the children come to me, do not hinder them." (Mk 10:14) the Latin Church, which reserves admission to Holy Communion to those who have attained the age of reason, expresses the orientation of Baptism to the Eucharist by having the newly baptized child brought to the altar for the praying of the Our Father.
