I've seen it done, but be certain that the motor is connected to the correct VOLTAGE. The UK uses a 50Hz, 240V electrical system. The US uses a 60 Hz, 120/240V. The motor you are referring to was probably used in the UK, so will probably need 240V.

Typically YES, but this is a very vague question, would WHAT work at 50hz instead of 60hz. If you look on the device being used you will see that it should be rated 50/60hz.

We can not use 50 HZ immediately instead of 60 HZ. Because all device working on certain condition. If we change the frequency, voltage will vary. It leads to down the life of a device.

should make no difference

ac breakers cant be used on dc they tend not to clear arcs

when in any doubt use a fuse

It can run but the motor will not last long because it will overheat.

The motor's rated rpm at 50 hz will have to run an additional 17%

when run to a 60 hz power supply

Thus, a high current will be drawn

by a 50 hz motor, more than its rated current specified on its nameplate.

How does 50hz and 60hz differ from one another?

ONE THING FOR SURE THERE IS NO CHANGE IN VOLTAGE IF SAME EQUIPMENT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. THE ISSUE HERE IS THE CHANGING LOAD FREQUENCY 60HZ TO 50HZ OR VICE VERSA. FOR EXAMPLE THE MOTOR HORSEPOWER AND R.P.M. WILL BE APPROXIMATELY 90 AND 83 PERCENT OF THE NAMEPLATE SPECIFICATIONS, ALSO THE FULL LOAD RUNNING TORQUE WILL INCREASE APPROXIMATELY 8 PERCENT IF USED FROM 60HZ TO 50HZ.

How can you determine if an electric motor is 50HZ or 60HZ if there is no name plate?

One way would be to hook it up to a supply (by itself, with no load) and measure the speed with a contact tachometer. If your supply is 60Hz, and the motor speed corresponded to one of the standard motor speeds, it would be a pretty safe bet you had a 60Hz motor. If the speed was about 20% faster than a standard speed, the motor is probably a 50Hz motor. Or 20% slower if you were running a 60Hz motor on 50Hz For instance, a 1750 RPM 50Hz motor would spin at about 2100 RPM if you ran it on 60Hz.

Can you use a 220v-60hz microwave in Australia?

Yes, using a 220v-60hz microwave in Australia is fine. The voltage of alternating current supplied to homes in Australia is 220v. The frequency of the voltage is 50hz.

Will a 230V 50Hz drain pump of a washing machine work on a 220V 60Hz?

No! Normally not, the recistance in the windings is to hig on 60Hz and the pump motor has not power enough to work propelly. This happened to myself when I connected my Whirpool AWE 7519 to 230V 60Hz. Europian model for 50Hz.
