The question needs to be answered not from the possibility that some how Jesus Christ would fail to be a perfect, sinless sacrifice or that somehow the works of God could be stopped or frustrated in anyway, because that would not happen; So it needs to be answered from the view that the resurrection was not part of the Plan of Salvation. If this was the case then not only would Christianity cease to exist, nothing would exist; The need for the earth and life and creation as a whole would be a vain exercise and be pointless just the same as if God commanded Noah to build the Ark but did not cause it to rain; But there is a reason for creation and a very good reason for our existence here on earth. Where the hand of the Lord is involved there is usually two or more outcomes to every purpose God wills to do and sets in motion. If there is a purpose then one could reason that God must desire to accomplish something, which, in most cases takes effort and sacrifice. This is the work and the glory of Almighty God, to realize the immortality and eternal life of man. This work could not come to pass if the means for a guiltless sacrifice for the sins of all mankind was not made available. In this circumstance it would be impossibly for any soul to return to the Kingdom of God, for the power and integrity of the Light of Truth upholds justice, and justice condemns us all.

Answer

The resurrection (and, to a lesser extent, the incarnation) is the kingpin of the Christian faith. Without the resurrection, God's plan for humanity by his sacrifice on the Cross and the conquering of death, would be non-existent.

Without the resurrection, Jesus would be reduced to just another prophet like Mohammed or Moses; it is the resurrection that distinguishes him from all other people. His incarnation as Emmanuel 'God with us', his perfect life, his divinity and his death resurrection and ascension are all part and parcel of God's ultimate plan for salvation. Remove any one of these and Christianity falls, but the crash would be loudest with the resurrection.

When was the concept of resurrection included in Christianity doctrine?

The implication of the question is that the resurrection was somehow added as an additional doctrine. It must be stated very clearly. Without the resurrection as an actual historical fact there is no Christianity. Jesus would essentially still be dead. This is why so many people go to so much effort to disprove it, even if unsuccessful.

Did Jesus' resurrection deal Satan a fatal blow?

AnswerChristians, who believe in the resurrection of Jesus, also believe in the power of Satan. In Christian dogma, Satan seems to have sufferred in no way by the resurrection. Some would say that Christianity needs Satan, since without him, we would be entirely responsible for our own sins and our own redemption. The concept of almost helpless vulnerability has its converse in the need for a saviour.

What are two reasons to agree with Jesus' resurrection?

A:As a Christian you would agree with the historicity of Jesus' resurrection i) because it is a central teaching of Christianity, and ii) because not to do so would begin to call into doubt the reliabilty of the gospel records. As a non-Christian you would not need to agree with the historicity of Jesus' resurrection for either of these reasons.

Would not the resurrection of Jesus be more believable had the stone not been removed and Jesus be gone but since it was rolled away and not replace as thieves would do?

No, it would not be more believable. The Resurrection of Jesus (and Christianity for that matter) is a matter of faith. To the believers, the act of Resurrection is fine just the way it is. To the non-believer, it wouldn't matter what and/or how Jesus rose from the dead, they would still not believe it.

Was Paul as important as Jesus in helping establish Christianity?
