Technically, sixteen-year-olds are not supposed to see R-rated movies. It depends on the person working in the box office. (I used to be this person, years ago.) Sometimes if the employee can tell that you both are close to seventeen, or that the boy is a bit older and it's clear that you are on a date, the employee will let you in. Now, if you came in with four of your friends and are laughing and joking and being loud, you are all much more likely to get carded. The people in the box office tend to use their best judgment.
