Royal couples could not announce an engagement as they would already be married. However, Prince William of the UK (royalty) and his fiance, Kate Middleton (not royalty yet) recently announced their engagement and wedding date.

If the engagement ring you gave your fiance is a family heirloom (passed down from generation to generation) then she should give you the ring back. If you bought her the engagement ring then it's hers to keep. If and when you get engaged again your next fiance would not want a ring you had given another woman.

In case of engagement ring, its Yes. man has the full right to take back ring as it doesn't claim any relationship that had been broken. but in case of bridal sets, its goes to woman,always.Generally when an engagement is broken off the young woman should be able to keep the ring as it was given to her and her ex fiance has no need for it because if he met another young woman and got engaged she would want her own engagement ring. If the engagement is a family heirloom then yes, it would be nice if the ex fiance would give the ring back to him, but that is the only exception.

Because your fiance is immature and doesn't get it that when you are engaged to be married then they are no longer free to date as they please.
