I've had some cold sores and painful mouth sores (canker sores) for several days a month for years. My Homeopath prescribed Pulsatilla for this and other complaints I see him for. I'm keeping a record to confirm my belief that the sores are diminishing after taking Pulsatilla.
Second opinion: even those healthcare professionals who are knowledgeable about alternative and complementary therapies do not consider homeopathy as a valid alternative in this group. Best-practice evidence for treating cold sores would involve using antiviral meds like Zovirax or Valtrex either acutely as needed, or prophylactically on a daily basis at a lower dose to prevent their recurrence.
