Yes it would, but the engine will still rotate but just will not start
they are located under the coil pack
Maybe the coil is not good ?
You should have C.O.P. ( coil on plug) there are no wires.
follow the spark plug wire starting at the spark plug end, when you get to the other end its connected to the coil
starting from the top left going counter clockwise 6174 on the left coil pack and 8532 on the right coil
Probably either the fuel pump or starter coil going out. Starter coil would be no cranking, pump would be cranking but no spark.
(2.4L) pretty sure it's ontop of the engine I think 4 bolts hold it in place under the coil pack are the spark plugs
On a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis : It has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system with ( 8 ) individual coils One coil for each of the eight spark plugs firewall 4 - 8 3 - 7 2 - 6 1 - 5 front of vehicle
Replace the ignition control module

I believe +99 Grand Cherokees moved to a distributorless system, you will only have coilpacks. They are normally 1 coil park for 2 cylinders.
