The perch's eyesight is normal meaning it has to rely on it sense of smell to detect predators. Remember a lot of the picture for a perch is in its BLIND SIDE, IE. under and behind.
In nature every prey has a natural protection against predator. If not both would not survive. If the predator ate all of its prey it too would not survive as it would have no food source.
Nature does not defeat itself.
