I'm not a doctor but I would think it's a possibility. If there is physical damage to the structure of the eye it might impare vision. Also if the dirt and germs on the rock got into the eye it might cause an infection which in turn might cause permanent damage to the eye. Your sight is important. If you have any doubt at all I would seek advise from a qualified doctor.

It could be, but it would be tough. Germs are microscopic. You have to show cause/effect, or change in some way that is visible to the naked eye. It can be done with germs, but it is making your job a lot tougher. It could be a great project, but it would be a very challenging one.
