No, if the desired color is truly the same as your natural color, it should be a very close match. Just make sure to take into consideration your natural tone as well as the tonal base of the color. IE. Ash, warm gold, neutral, etc.

Lots of reasons. Most colors will darken when they dry. The color of the wall underneath will affect it. Going over a darker color, even with two coats, the darker base can still darken the new color. The type of light changes it also. Even how you apply it can affect the color,

If you want your over all color to be darker you will need to choose a darker level hair color, if you want to be one level darker switch to level 4 or even 3. The lower the number the darker the color. If you have any grey hair that you are coloring I would suggest using more "N" than "A" because "N" is the only color that will work to achieve grey coverage. Increasing the amount of "N" or "A" you use will not change the darkness of the color.
