What is the difference between Technical College and a regular University and which is better?

I've been a teacher and a student at both technical and community colleges. So I've seen things from both sides. Essentially the difference is in the main focus of the school. Technical colleges are mostly geared towards the "technical" fields--computers, autmotive, welding, medical, electrical, construction, etc. So they're basically trade schools that train you for a specific industrial trade. By contrast, community colleges are geared for broad training in a wide variety of fields, technical and non-technical. But are shorter and more concentrated in the major than a 4 year college or university. Now this is the basic difference. However, there are many technical colleges that offer training programs beyond technical fields. In other words, some technical colleges focus on just providing training in a particular trade, such as Medical Assistant or Mecical Records. Others offer a variety of technical programs and non-technical programs. For example, you can get a degree in Network Security or in General Business. However, one HUGE difference between community and technical colleges is this. Community college credits are 100% transferrable to 4 year schools! So if you take a business or science class at a community college, you know it's transferrable if you decide to go on for a Bachelor (4 year) Degree. But with classes at technical colleges, most of their credits are not transferrable at all. In other words, if you decide to go to a community college or a 4 year school, then those credits generally won't transfer over. Another difference is that most community colleges only offer 2 year degrees--Certificates to Associate Degrees. Technical colleges can offer this, plus 4 year Bachelor Degrees and even a Masters. Now as far as the quality of training goes, you can get quality training from both. In other words, you have your good and bad schools out there. But with community colleges, they're all part of the state college system. So they're all considered public colleges owned by the state. This means they're primarily state-funded. But with technical colleges, they're usually private. This means they're owned by corporations and are mainly privately-funded. THIS IS NOT COMPLETELY CORRECT!!! community college credits do not transfer 100% of the time. you have to do the transfer curriculum to make sure they are going to be able to transfer your credits!

Technical College ?

Do you know the difference between a technical college and a traditional college? The primary difference is that a technical college trains students to do very specific jobs, while a traditional college aims to provide a well-rounded education for students who will pick a major area and not necessarily train them to do any one specific job. Some examples of students who attend a technical college include medical transcribers, medical assistants, nurses, teaching assistants, paramedics, electricians, plumbers and IT professionals. These are all high paying professions that require minimal schooling. Most of these careers are offered to students who attend a technical college before a traditional college, because plain and simply, they are better trained and often already have experience from externships, etc.Technical college almost always costs far less than traditional colleges as well. There are fewer classes, a shorter time investment and financial aid is readily available especially if the technical college is accredited. This means that there are few books to buy, less work time to sacrifice and help to pay the expenses associated with higher education. These are many of the reasons that television and radio are swarmed with technical college advertising these days. With the downturn in the economy and the huge rise in unemployment, there is more of need for career training than ever before.Gone are the days when a high school diploma was enough to find a job. Most companies want at least a certificate stating that the potential employee has sought job training or higher education. They can afford to be picky when there are so many applicants for every available job.If you are looking to gain job training or just widen your experiences, a technical college is a great place to start looking. More and more programs are becoming available at these schools each year and you can find one that appeals to you. Go online and do some research and ask for referrals from current and past students for any school that you might consider attending.

What is the difference between a diploma and degree in midwifery?

The diploma is typically shorter in length (although no always), and does not meet the credit, and/or course requirements of the degree. This is due to the absence of many general education courses such as humanities, social sciences, some English courses etc. Thus, the diploma is a more career oriented program.

The difference in sizing between regular and petite dresses is the length. Petite clothes are made for shorter women so the length at the bottom of the dress and on the sleeves would be shorter.
