There would be sunlight as long as we are close enough to our sun. If our planet escaped from the suns gravitational pull and disappeared off into space away from the sun then it would get very dark. This is unlikely to happen though.

All planets revolve around the Sun. There are no binary planet systems in our Solar System. The dwarf planets Pluto and Charon are possible candidates for a binary system because of the barycentre. The other alternative would be Pluto and Neptune because of Pluto's chaotic orbit.

Our solar system might have been totally different to the the one we have. The sun has gravitational forces that pull the planets while they revolve around it. If the sun was smaller, then the planets would have much smaller too. The temperatures generated by the sun on the planets might not have been sufficient to sustain life either.
If the earth did not revolve around the sun, there would not be any seasons. The problem is that if the earth did not revolve around the sun, that is, if it came to a stop in its orbit, the sun's gravity (with just the tiniest help from the earth's) would pull the earth into the sun.
