You apparently think that we exist outside of space and apart from space. Actually,
we're part of space, and in fact, most of our bodies are space. If space were to
contract, everything in space would also contract, including us. Without some
pretty sophisticated Physics experiments, it would be impossible to know that
anything had happened. In fact, maybe space actually did contract an hour ago.

Could anyone pass safely through the radioactive field in space?
The radioactivity of outer space would kill you, of course if you were wearing a space suit, that would be different, but if that space suit leaked at all the negative pressure would be so great that your body would explode.
