you would expect it to have high pressure
High-Pressure region.
High Pressure
low
it is because air sinks at the poles
The North Pole generally experiences high air pressure due to the cold temperatures and the sinking air associated with colder regions. These conditions typically result in stable weather conditions with clear skies.
The South Pole is a low pressure region. Cold temperature areas tend to be low pressure while tropical regions are commonly high pressure.
Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station would be located there, as well as a lot of snow. There would be no plants or animals.
It would be a bit nippy.

Since the geographic north pole and the magnetic north pole are different places, the farther you are from the north pole, the less the difference matters.
The latitude at the north pole is 90° North. The latitude at the south pole is 90° south. So the trip from one pole to the other covers 180° of latitude ... just what you would expect when you travel halfway around any sphere.
