Large rivers will cause a rush of fresh water into the sea at that point. The Amazon can push as much as sixty miles into the ocean and fresh water can be drawn. Seafarers used to get fresh water this way whilst still miles out to sea. Much smaller rivers, creks etc will have substantially less, if any, effect.

Low because iit is off the coast and the area with the greatest salinity would be in a deeper part of the ocean

No because if it rains over there then there will be very little water present as all the minerals would be used to soften the soil.
