Not normally. Metamorphism destroys the characteristics of the original rock, including bedding, cleavage, texture and fossils.

In extremely low grade metamorphic rocks, however, fossils may still be present, however these fossils will be deformed.

Metamorphic rocks do not contain fossils.

The word metamorphic means "change of form". This denotes a rock which has been changed from its original form, sedimentary, igneous or metamorphic.

If a sedimentary rock containing fossils was put under great pressure and heat from being buried many miles down in the crust its mineral composition would change and this would destroy any fossils.

You don't find them in metamorphic rocks. You find them in sedimentary rocks.

What happens to a fossil when the sedimentary rock it was in turned into a metamorphic rock?

As in what process causes this? if so it is usually under heat and pressure. Depending on what kind of rick it is depends on the resultant metamorphic rock e.g Shale-->Slate etc

What happens to a fossil in a sedimentary rock when that rock becomes a metamorphic rock?

It will become misshapen or its constituent minerals may realign, recrystallize or form new minerals. In any event, the most likely occurrence is that the fossil will no longer be recognizable.

Does Metamorphics rock contain fossil fuels?

Anthracite is metamorphosed bituminous coal and is a metamorphic rock.

Is a sedimentary rock a fossil?

A fossil is any record of an organism preserved in rock, whether it be igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic. Nearly all fossils are discovered in sedimentary rock.

What happens when metamorphic rock becomes igneous rock?

Metamorphic rock continues to heat and eventually melts and becomes igneous rocks.

Is sedimentary rock the only kind of rock that has fossils?

Not quite; occasionally fossil traces can be seen in marble - which is a metamorphic rock.

Why aren't you likely to find a fossil in metamorphic or igneous rocks?

the fossils would be turned into another rock if it was in a metamorphic rock or igneous rocks. it requires a blanket of sediment

What happens to igneous rock in intense heat and pressure?

The rock becomes a metamorphic rock

What happens to metamorphic rock?

It is changes over time

What happens when you melt a metamorphic rock?

it turns into sand

What happens to metamorphic rock when its melts?

it turns into magma

For metamorphic rock to become igneous rock what steps are necessary?

Metamorphic rock can not become igneous rock, however igneous rock can become metamorphic. This process happens over time as the rocks are shifted, compressed and heated by the Earth.
