While playing basketball, this player sprained his ankle. Probably not a good idea to play without shoes! Symptoms of a sprain include swelling and discoloration near the affected area.A sprain occurs when a ligament is inflamed or torn. Ligaments, such as those of the ankle, are bands or sheets of regular, tough fibrous tissue that connect bones together. Here is the normal state of the ankle and its ligaments. Depending on the severity of the injury, the ligaments may be mildly injured and inflamed as in a Type One ankle sprain; partially torn, classified as a Type Two sprain; or completely torn, making it a Type Three sprain.Treatment for a Type One sprain should include Rest, Ice, Compression and immobilization, and Elevation of the affected area. This is easy to remember if you think of the acronym RICE. If you suspect a ligament is torn or completely severed, see your health care provider for treatment.Reviewed ByReview Date: 10/06/2008Thomas N. RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation
If the ankle is broken it will need to be set in plaster. If it is "merely" a sprain, support with a crepe bandage should do the trick. In both cases, pain-killers will be needed, as ankle injuries can be very sore.
A sprained ankle can hurt one person and not another. It just depends on a few things. First, it can depend on how sensitive you are to pain. My brother broke his arm in 3 places and did not cry, and when I fell off my bike and scraped my knee I was crying. There are 3 types of sprained ankles: grade 1, grade 2, and grade 3. If you get a grade 1 ankle, you typically will have a little pain, swelling, and tenderness. With grade 1, the ligament is stretched or the fibers of the ligaments are ripped a little. You can tolerate putting your weight on it. With grade 2, some of the fibers are torn but not all of them so there is a big increase in pain, swelling, and tenderness. You usually will have difficulty putting pressure on that ankle. Grade 3 is the worse. The ligament is torn, and you can't put weight on it without a lot of pain. There is a lot of swelling and tenderness. You will need to stay off it (though you should stay off of any sprained ankle). Remember RICE (Rest (stay off of it), Ice (20-30min), Compression (Ace bandage), and Elevation (for first 48 hours)). A broken or fractured ankle/ foot can free the same as a sprained ankle (there are similar symptoms), so it can be quite painful to have a sprained ankle.

usually when ur arm hurts it has either A. Gotten damaged of just hurt if so then just try to rest and not lift anything heavy with it, B. It's in an uncomfortale position giggity in wich means u have 2 move it 2 a more comfortable poisition
Wearing proper shoes is best way to avoid ankle sprains. There are also supports available to resist knee, ankle, elbow, and other sprains. Of course, avoiding walking or running on uneven ground can cause sprains. The result of a sprain can often be minimized by RICE: rest , ice , compression, and elevation
