There is no such thing as a definite "Best Class". This is because everyone likes to play the game differently, and also because the mechanics of the classes are changed and tweaked by the game developers.

Rather, think about what role you would like to play, how versatile you would like to be, and whether you like the concept of each class. See a short summary below:

Druid

Druids are very versatile, and can become healers, tanks and dps. Though restricted to only wearing leather, they can shapeshift to alter their form depending on the needs they have at the moment.

Mage

Mages are the masters of dealing damage, and can use Arcane, Fire and Frost magic to take down their foes, turn them into sheep and teleport across the world. They cannot heal or tank, and are restricted to cloth armor.

Warrior

Warriors are the masters of arms, and can tank and deal damage. They wear plate armor and wield a wide variety of weapons. Fury warriors deal damage by whirlwinding, while Arms warriors rely on bleeding effects and special attacks to kill their enemies.

Priest

Holy priests are versatile healers, relying on a large toolkit to heal people. Discipline priests rely on shields to prevent damage to their allies. Shadowpriests are damage-dealers, and restore health and mana to their allies. All priests wear cloth.

Shaman

The Shaman wear mail armor, and can place totems on the battlefield with various effects. Enhancement shamen attack in melee range, while Elemental Shamen use fire and lightning to deal damage. Restoration Shamen are healers.

Warlock

Warlocks summon demons to assist them in battle, from tanking for them to controlling their enemies. They use fire and shadow damage, and wear cloth armor.

Paladins

Paladins are defenders of the Holy Light, and can become tanks, healers and melee damage dealers. They wear plate armor and are (like the druid) very versatile in the roles they can assume.

Death Knight

Fallen heroes who freed themselves from the Scourge, Death Knights rely on plague minions and diseases to bring down their enemies. They can tank and deal damage. Death Knights wear plate armor and can inscribe runes on their weapons to enhance their abilities.

Rogue

Rogues are sneaky killers, having the ability to stealth and a multitude of abilities to defend themselves or disable their enemies. They can wear up to leather armor and are especially effective using daggers.

Hunter

Hunters tame wild beasts to fight for them, while shooting with ranged weapons. They can lay down traps and play dead to confuse enemies. They cannot tank or heal, being a pure damage-dealing class. Hunters can wear up to mail armor.

Of these classes, the Hunter, Warrior, Warlock and Priest are relatively easy to learn (but hard to master at the highest level). Shamen, Paladins and Druids can be hard to play for new players, because of their learning curves and/or many roles.

It all depends on what you like playing and play the best with... everyone has different skills. I, myself like Paladins a lot. They are good in player-versus-player combat and got a pretty good damage per second, for me. Druids are said to be the best class, because of their ability to morph into different animals. I don't really care what class is the best, but how I like playing it. You decide what you want to play. You have to try different classes and see what you like.
