Many people have this problem. Feeling sad may happen more often when they are alone and/or when it is quiet and they are left with their thoughts. Negative thoughts that make you sad beget other sad thoughts that may lead to self loathing. You need a distraction -- you need to engage in something outside of yourself such as reading, playing an online game, calling into a talk radio show, or doing something you enjoy like planting flowers, a round of Golf, or doing something nice for someone else even as little as sending a card.

Have you noticed that when you wake up you are no longer sad? Sometimes the change of thought from sleeping will do the trick.

If you are sad all the time you probably have depression and there IS help for this condition. The problem, however, is that people with depression are usually too sad to seek help. They may think "its hopeless, why bother." If this is the case, you need to force yourself to see a doctor. Or, at least call a doctor and explain the situation. Many people will say that it changed their lives, and how they wish they would have taken this simple step sooner.

Hope this helps

hi i wrote the question above this is my problem: please read it (i know its long) and help me out!!

I'm only 13 and i fell out with my 2 bestfriends and another girl last year because my bfs went off with the other girl and left me out. it sounds childish and i didnt do hardly anything. now im friends with my old best friends but it doesnt feel the same. the other girl still holds a massive grudge over me and turns others against me! i've tried to apolgise but she never listens and its always me apologising even when i didnt do anything wrong it was them bullying me! they were so horrid to me and send me mean txts etc and i know they still talk about me and hate me! all my other friends like this girl who holds the grudge and my old friends never talk to me they just smile when they walk past! I feel like i have no friends and i try to make new friends but everyone already has a group of friends. i feel like im just a tag along and now one likes me i feel so lost wen im with others. and to make it worse 1 of my new friends invited every1 to her party including the girls i feel out with and not me. and i feel she gets annoyed with me wen i ask her for help!!

even at home i always fall out with my dad and it goes to far and i always end up crying and locking myself in my room. my parents are always fighting over how my mum doesnt have a job and we dont have enough money. i know i dont have as big a problem as other people but i always feel so down and even though my mum says shes always there to talk to i still feel alone. sometimes i just cry myself to sleep and its affecting my whole life. i feel self-concious as popular boys in the year above say things like no-one will ever fancy me and im ugly and i have no friends. i feel so sad all the time and feel like i just wanted move away from everything but we cant coz we cant afford it! i feel so depressed and lonely and these bitchy girls in my year make me feel worthless!!!

i no exactly how you feel im 16 this year and all last year was so terrible i almost couldnt handle it. it was the start of yr 9 when this all started happening and at the start i had the stat. of popular friends with everyone but after a while this girl started going out with one of my best friends and she hated the fact i was close to him so she made everyone hate me telling lies spreading stuff around about me and stuff it started off alright but it got out of control nobody liked me just like in your case i was called stuff like slut and skank and even my best friends got turned against me i was hated so much i was abused hurt and injured by girls who bash and cut me with knifes. and did you no all this crap was over BOYS and POPULARITY its stupid it sounds like yours is a bit like that as well mine went on and on for the whole of 3 terms until i talked 2 my uncle about it who went and talked to poilice and teachers it stopped all the name calling and abuse.

i got through it all i just didnt worry about those girls and got on with my life all girls who bitch like they do are jealous and that is true girls dont bitch unless they are jealous i say dump them talk to an older person you trust. and also if things are that bad you can ask the head teacher for a home or councilor pass where at lunch times and stuff you can either go home or sit with the school concilor they will help you out and dont cry i did and its not worth it lifes too short i waited and got those who picked on me sorted out by teachers at school and went home at lunches and after a while everything got better ppl will start talking to you if you smile and be happy and welcoming.

dw schools are just like that theses days and after a while you will look back and be like they are so pathetic. you will get good friend you just need to show ppl you are nice and trustful and dnt worry about boys they are stupid they will get you into trouble all the time they are not worth it just wait until you met the RIGHT guy i did it took a while but i did

HOPE THIS HELPS LOVE GOOD LUCK i will help any time you need help xx

Depression is very common. It affects people of every age, economic situation, and race.

Confronted with some of life's upsetting experiences - marriage breakdown, unemployment, bereavement, failure of any kind - many people become depressed.

  • A person who goes through experiences like that and does not get depressed has a measure of what in the psychiatric trade is known as "resilience".
  • According to Manchester University psychologist Dr Rebecca Elliott, we are all situated somewhere on a sliding scale.
  • "At one end you have people who are very vulnerable. In the face of quite low stress, or none at all, they'll develop a mental health problem," she says.
  • "At the other end, you have people who life has dealt a quite appalling hand with all sorts of stressful experiences, and yet they remain positive and optimistic." Most of us, she thinks, are somewhere in the middle.

There are many causes for feeling depressed. Some of these causes are temporary-- perhaps you feel sad because you broke up with someone you loved, or you got fired from a job, or you don't like a certain aspect of your life. Also, certain medicines have a temporary side effect where you feel depressed. (If that is the case, talk to your doctor and he or she can adjust your dose or change the medication.) Most depression is temporary: while it may be frustrating while you are going through it, it tends to disappear as soon as things in your life improve.

But some depression is more long-lasting and does not go away even when you find a new love, get a new job, or solve whatever problem was bothering you. Depression can be an emotional illness and it IS treatable. If you find yourself feeling useless or worthless a lot of the time, if you find yourself lacking the confidence to make changes because you believe nothing will get better, those are signs of the other kind of depression, the kind that is more constant. You should make an appointment to see a counselor or a mental health professional, and talk to that person about how you feel. As I said, the good news is depression can be treated-- sometimes, the treatment is a medication, but often the treatment is talking about it and learning how to develop a better self-image. Good luck, and whichever kind of depression you have, people DO get better from it. I know this from experience!

Which equation has no y intercept y equals negative x or x equals 1?

The line with equation crosses the y-axis at (0, 0), so the y-intercept is 0. While the line with equation x = 1 does not cross the y-axis at all (it is parallel to it), so it has no y-intercept.
