You could get a ferry to Wales or England from Dublin and then go by road or rail to Edinburgh. You can also get a ferry to Scotland from Larne, near Belfast, which you could travel to by road and/or rail to from Dublin.
Queen Street station, which is located next door. Queen Street serves trains to the north of Glasgow, but trains to the south of Glasgow go to Central station, so if you end up there you'll have to walk or catch the Subway. Trains from Edinburgh can go to either station.
There are five in the city centre and 54 outside the city centre.
Look up National Rail Enquiries.

The 2 most famous places in Scotland are probrably Edinburgh (the capital) and Glasgow. There are many things to see in these towns, and some recomendations from me are, in Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Jenna's and the Royal Mile and in Glasgow, the main attraction is really shopping, but there are losts of interesting museums and stuff. Fun Fact: Did you know St. Andrew's used to be the capital of Scotland?
An hour by air to Glasgow or Edinburgh, however with check-in times and travel to and from the airport, it's closer to 3 1/2 hours. By rail, it's between 4 hrs 5mins and 5 hours. If you want your journey to be comfortable, I recommend the train.
