Not necessarily. The problem with BMI (Body Mass Index) is that it does not run true for everyone. I have a friend who is the same height as me. I weigh a stone and a half more than her, yet we look the same in weight - both have the same slimness. If she were my weight, she would probably look overweight. You have to take into consideration the build of your body. A person with bigger bones needs a vaster cover of body fat, whereas a person with small bones needs only a little. For example if the person with smaller bones had the same amount of body fat as the person with bigger bones, they may look overweight, whilst the bigger boned person does not look overweight. Am i making sense?! Also if you are very active you are likely to weigh more. Muscle weighs more than fat. A weight lifter who weighs 18 stone will be very fit and healthy, whereas a person who sits down all day doing nothing and weights 18 stone, will be obese. The best way to find out is to look in the mirror!!!! If you have fat rolls all over your body then yes you may be obese. If you are really worried about it, then go to the Doctor. If the Doctor thinks you are too overweight, then he/she can work out a proper diet plan with you.
