The truth of the matter is that you are aware that you have a problem with this disorder and now you have to live with this simple fact of life. Also if you are aware it is only fair that you make your intended partner aware also. I have had RA for most of my life and it has given me a lot of grief from time to time. I did not start on any sort of treatment until quite late in my life. However I worked for all of my life and it has not particularly affected my abilities or for that matter my outlook on things. If you feel that having this problem may come between you and your partner then you are probably better of getting it out in the open now, before developing an even closer relationship with her. Breaking up after a long time together is not a very pleasant thing to go through. In any case the treatments available today for RA are in most cases such that you can live a normal life without having to groan and moan your way through the day. I never did anything about dealing with RA until I was in my 50's which probably cost me an elbow. Never the less I earned my living in the building industry which was constantly extremely physically demanding. I am under the care of a rheumatologist and usually see him twice a year unless I have a flare up when the visits get a little closer together. Ra Is certainly not a death sentence, my mother was afflicted with it in a time when the treatments controlling inflammation and joint damage were nothing like those we have available today. The fact however is that as a result of the treatments you will drop dead 2 to 5 years sooner then if you were not under treatment but it seems like a reasonable trade of when comparing the results with untreated RA. In the end the simple fact is that you cant hide the fact that you have RA. The best thing to do is simply tell her, because breaking up can be an even more painful situation.
