yes, you can thank them on there message board or recommend them(gives them a trust point)
Russian for "Thank you anyway" is в любом случае, спасибо. Pronounced v liubom sluchaye, spaseeba. It is not a very common thing to say in Russian.
Be honest. Be forthright. Be genuine. Thank you notes are not rocket surgery. Just say thank you and be specific about why. If someone gave you something, name that thing. If someone did something for you--go figure--name that thing.
When someone says "Thank you", you should say "You're welcome" back. It is the polite thing to do and it is proper etiquette.
It all depends on the relationship. How well you know this person. And you shouldn't really care about thank you notes. The first thing that pops into your head when someone gives you a gift is saying thank you.

A message sent to express gratitude is a thank-you note. It means to thank someone for something in such a way that it sounds as if you think you don't deserve the thing for which you are thanking them.Gratitude is thankfulness. Humble gratitude doesn't.

Thank you for passing (me) by. Rather an odd thing to thank someone for. If you wanted to say "thank you for coming over", you'd say: "Danke für dein/Ihr Vorbeikommen" or less formal "danke, dass du vorbeigekommen bist".
Be polite and dance with him anyway, then thank him for asking. You don't have to "like" him to dance with him and you will have made him feel better about himself. You do not have to make a permanent thing of it. Don't lead him on, just be polite and dance with other boys as well. All of this interaction will also help you become someone people like to be around.
The best thing to do is to speak to someone at the local community centre. They will be able to advise you of different programs and activities that are available for seniors.
