You can catch BOTH Dialga and Palkia in Pokemon Platinum. There's a room deep inside Mt. Coronet that has two items in it, the Lustrous Orb and the Adamant Orb. Once you acquire the items, go to the Spear Pillar at the top of Mt. Coronet and look into the Space or Time Rifts. Hitting A when looking at a rift will summon one of the two. Then repeat for the other rift. Make sure you bring TONS of Full Restores and various Poke Balls if you plan on catching them back to back.
