You need to have the computer checked for codes. That will tell you what area the problem is in. It can be wiring, computer, or even an issue with the new transmission.
It will default to second whenever the trans computer has detected a problem and set a code. You will need to have the transmission codes checked. It could be electrical or an internal trans problem.
what is the problem when the car will not go in drive or reverse? and the transmission fluid is still full
Sounds like the classic "limp" mode on Chrysler Ultradrive transmissions where it won't climb past second gear. First make sure your transmission has enough fluid. if it does and the problem is still there, replace the transmission filter and fluid. If the problem persists take it to a professional- that ASE certification isn't just for show, you know!
Got a 130,000 and still going strong. 250-300K shouldn't be a problem
Hi, My '94 Concorde problem started exactly as you are describing. A total rebuild & 4 trips back to the shop & it's still not right. Found out that the transmission was replaced with a Chrysler Dealer rebuilt transmission years ago . Talking to the mechanic who rebuilt this transmission, he found out that the transmission was from an Intreped & not a Concorde. Don't know weather you are the original owner but this might help a little. They really had some big problems with transmission. You need to find out what code is being set, then you can diagnose.
not sure on all of it but i have a 97 and the SAME problem i did fix the overdrive thing but still have the gear problem if you remove the airfilter junk youll see the to of the transmission look toward the front of the car and you will see a plug on top the inhibitor switch i think you will see the wires have lost the casing around them and now they all touch replace that and overdrive will work but i did this and still have the gear jumping if you find out what the transmission problem is shoot me an e-mail plz kazzar@ymail.com thx
If you keep up with your regular maintenance, you should not have a problem with the transmission of your BMW car. If something still happens to it, your warranty should cover it.
You need to have the used transmission checked. Those trannies go into limp mode when there is a paroblem. Sometimes it's simple fix, sometimes not. Could be an electrical problem with one of the sensors in the front of the tranny. Have a good one.
if the vehicle could not be driven the problem is in the transmission not the transfer case if the transfer case is good you could still drive on the front wheels, the problem may be in the differential it is unusual to loose all gear, but if the problem is in transmission i would suggest the main shaft is broken
I have a 2001 Chrysler 300M with the High Performance 3.5 liter engine and the Performance Handling Package. The car has over 160k miles. My transmission shudders as well. A few mechanics have speculated that it could be the torque converter starting to fail, or the overall transmission failing. I had the pan removed and inspected. Allot of metal debris was found. They adjusted the few belts they could, replaced the fluid and filter. The problem is less severe but still exists during heavy acceleration as well as cruising and going into passing gear at 50 mph.
No. Chrysler is owned by Fiat now.
