No, you just have to follow a special procedure and the key is working again. This can happen after battery problems. I had the same problem on my X3. The only problem i ever had with this car. Best regards Joergen Planck Larsen

I was informed by a BMW dealer there isn't a battery to replace and you have to order a new remote and then have it programmed by the dealer.
yes
Cut open the remote with xacto knife , unsolder and replace the battery.
use a hammer..:)
Test the battery with a tester.
BMW's have auto-locks a little different from other cars, if your battery is dead, the doors won't open. To change the battery, you need to open the trunk, this is where the battery is located. You will see a panel with some screws, you need to remove that and underneath is the battery.
small flat head screw driver pops off the back cover and there is a nickel size battery that needs to be replaced
battery is spent, now to get inside?be creative...
No.
There is no battery inside the key to replace. The key actually charges through your ignition. If its not functioning you will just have to order a programmed key from the dealership.
Where is the battery terminal on my BMW 528xi
Maybe the battery ran out.
