Look in the Owner's Manual. My 2003 Malibu honked when I locked the door when I first got it, but I looked in the Owner's Manual and you hold down the lock button for 10 seconds or something like that to make it switch to silent mode.
I had the same trouble with my 03 Malibu as well. I replaced the emergency light switch (relay flasher), the ignition switch, and the BCM (body control module) to no prevail of repairs. this all by suggestions of Chevy ASE technician's (they resolved there issues in the dealer ship with a BCM) that I know and trust. I finally went to my first thought of its the turn signal switch this did resolved the problem.

It sounds as if you have a problem with the ignition switch.
I've just started having this problem too on my 2002 Malibu. I have found a lot of intermitted turn signal issues, especially for the 2000-01 Malibu, but I am still searching for info on the clicking (turn signal) sound from the dash.
The common fix for this problem is dirty control swithc on the environment console. I toolk mine apart and cleaned it to fix this same problem in my Malibu
need more info.
The alarm system, in your 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, can be reset by removing the fuse. Keep the fuse out for 10 seconds and replace it to its original slot.
