You need to get drivers for your hardware if you reinstall the operating system. Go to the manufactures website and download chipset, audio, video, and peripherial drivers for your system, and install them.

There are many ways to sort out your problem...but the best way i believe to completely format the hard drive...and reinstall a new OS on a newly created partition...it takes longer but at least you know that you are starting completely new...
If I were going to format and could'nt i would just buy a larger hard drive and replace the old one
