Make sure the volume on the speakers is turned up, also the volume icon on the task bar should be turned up.
Before all That If the sound card is on the motherboard make sure its enabled in BIOS, and all the drivers are installed, you can do that from device manager,
If all that is OK uninstall the sound driver and re-install it. if its a PCI sound card uninstall it , Restart your computer and re-install the driver.
