The clamps on the radiator hoses may need to be tightened a little more. Or a little less or not clamping in the right place and the drain plug/fan switch (if fitted) might need tightening. Could be your new rad has a leak or you could have an airlock in the system which is forcing the coolant out
The most common cause of overheating is a thermostat stuck in the closed position. Other causes of overheating could be a clogged radiator, faulty water pump, a faulty radiator fan relay, a faulty radiator fan motor, no coolant or low coolant level.
An overflow container prevents coolant loss. As coolant heats it expands. Without the tank, excess coolant would be forced from the radiator and be dumped on the ground. As coolant cools it is drawn back into the radiator so it always stays full.
A leak. You need to see where it is coming from.
The overflow hose, that carries coolant from the radiator to either a reservoir on modern cars or to the ground on older cars.
The extra coolant will simply be pushed into the reservoir once the coolant heats up enough. It is also possible that (especially if there is already some fluid in the reservoir) that it will be pushed out of the reservoir unto the ground. Radiator fluid (antifreeze) is toxic to animals (it tastes sweet and so animals may be attracted to it). Please clean up or spray down with plenty of water any coolant that leaks or pours on the ground.
Coolant is leaking- either onto the ground or into the engine where it mustn't.
you might want to check for a blown head gasket or a cracked head or block. espically if it loosing water out of the radiator with out leaking on the ground.
Yes, coolant can leak from the engine. If it's hot outside and you're running the Air Conditioner (AC) and you back up and see a liquid on the ground, it's probably condensation from the AC unit. Or, it could be collant leaking from the engine. How old is the car? Do you consider radiator hoses to be part of the engine? Radiator hoses should be replaced every 3-5 years, especially if there are bulges, or if they're leaking.
Many possibles, coolant leakage, headgaket, plugged radiator, stuck thermostat, bad cooling fan, coolant sensor, radiator fan relay, ECU malfunction, rodents chewed on the ground wire for the cooling fan, or about 20 other possibles
Radiator plug or petcock should be located at the bottom or rear of radiator or remove lower radiator hose. Most vehicles take approx. 2 gallons of coolant mixed 50/50 with water As coolant heats it expands and rather than lose same on the ground it flows to the coolant recovery tank allowing additional coolant to flow through system when needed and stored when not required
It is located (if you face the front of the car) on the bottom right. it will drain straight down to the ground and you have to unscrew it from the back of the radiator. it is covered by the plastic scuff guard and sits right on the radiator frame.
The drain plug for a 1997 Mazda Millenia is located on the lower left-hand corner of the radiator. Be sure to have something to catch the water and coolant in so it doesn't go on the ground where cats and dogs can get to it. Coolant tastes sweet, but is deadly to animals as well as humans.
