You just signed up for new channels on your cable service The numbers have three digits However when you try to viewrecord these channels they do not come up thru the VCR and you cannot record anythin?

Hi,
Your VCR most likely doesn't have the required type of tuner to handle the cable channels. You have two coices. The first is to connect it to the cable box's RF output and record off of the antenna connections or use a set of video/audio cables and record from the cable box that way.
With the change to all digital technology, older items like VCR's are going to have to have specialized accommodations for them to contontinue to work with your system.
