It really depends on your parents. You know best because you know them best, but I will tell you what I would do. I would select a gun that does not look like a "real" gun. I would also make sure that my parents know that it is required by law to have a blaze orange tip on all air soft guns so they cant be confused with real ones. Also I would offer to modify the gun, like paint it. You could put all types of cool designs on your gun and also make it look totally unrealistic.

The twist on the inside of a gun-barrel is called rifling. I dont know the specific pitch of the rifling in this particular gun but thought you would like to know the proper terminology.
