A Foal is a young horse, a male foal is a colt and a female foal is a filly.
If the horse is intact (has not been castrated), he is a "colt" under age 4. If he is older and intact, he is a "stallion." If he has been castrated, he is a "gelding."
A young horse is called a Foal and when they get a little bit older mare's are called filly's and gleding's/stallion's are called colts.
