would it be my voltage regulator or a wiring problem
new alternator not charging the battery
The battery light indicates the system is not charging. Have the charging system checked. If the alternator is not charging, the engine will quit running and leave you stranded.
Battery is located in the trunk.
alternator is not charging battery, or loose - corroded connection on battery cables
There is problem with the charging system.
The alternator is over or under charging.
Dead cell in the battery or the alternator has failed. Drive your Ford to your favorite auto parts store where they will check the charging system free of charge.
The battery light comes on when the alternator is not charging. Changing the battery did nothing. Either put a gauge on the battery to see if it is charging, or while running, disconnet the positive cable from the battery. If the car dies that means the alternator is not charging. Most parts stores will check it for free. Oriely's , Autozone, etc.
NO. The battery light as you call it is actually the charging system light. If it is staying on the charging system is not working properly. More than likely the alternator has failed. It really has very little to do with the battery.
Your battery is not being charged because of a problem with the charging system Whether its a problem with the alternator / voltage regulator , the serpentine belt etc . you should have the charging system checked
There is no reset for the charging light. If it is on, then something is wrong. Drive the car to your local auto parts store and have the system checked.
This usually means that the alternator isn't charging.
