This answer is provided by, delunatic: check the fuel injectors, spark plugs, and make sure you have engine oil. seizing your engine is not fun. is it overheating? ,,, This answer is provided by, Jamison: The advise about keeping plenty of oil in your cars engine is VERY GOOD, But, I do not see how that is the problem here, Most cars do not have anyway to check the engine oil automatically, and if it restarts it must not be seizing up. The spark plugs are A very unlikely source of the problem, because worn spark plugs act up at start-up then they get better as the engine warms up. Fuel injectors generally either work or not, and if they have any other problem besides "not working" it should be leaking fuel into the engine at an increased rate, this would cause the engine to consume excessive amounts of fuel and would cause the engine to not want to idle, Other symptoms would include but not be limmited to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,difficult to start, black or grey smoke from the exhaust, missing, not wanting to stop when the ignition is turned off..... I do not know what the problem is, I was watching hoping that someone else had A GOOD idea of what it could be because I have A car with this same action. Jamison.

Where is the ignition and distributor located on a 1990 Chevy Celebrity?

The 1990 Chevy Celebrity engine is distributorless, the ignition is handled by a combination of the engine control module(computer) and the ignition control module. You did not mention which engine the car has. If your car has the 4 cylinder engine the ignition control module is below the intake manifold at the rear of the engine. You can follow the spark plug wires to it. The coils are mounted to the ignition control module. If your car has the V6 the ignition control module is near the starter and again you can follow the spark plug wires to it. Again the coils are mounted to the ignition control module.

Where is the ignition control module on a 1997 Sonata?

Regarding a model 1997,2 liter sonata, there is not an ignition control module as such. Ignition control comes from the ECM (ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT) through the Ignition Power Transistor (often called Igniter) and then to the Ignition coil.I do not have any information on the 1.8 or the 3.0 liter models.
