Look on the back of the computer.
There should be a small indentation (it's a button) that you can press and hold until the computer shuts off.
This will turn off the mac and you can turn it back on again after waiting 30 seconds.
I'm pretty sure whatever you were doing will be lost if you didn't save, though.
